Job location(s): Schiphol, the Netherlands

Cargill"s Cocoa SnD department is responsible for providing proprietary fundamental analyses of the cocoa markets, primarily for Cargill"s group commercial and strategic needs. The role of Cocoa Products SnD Analyst provides an excellent opportunity to a creative analyst of cocoa products to further their career within the industry. The Cocoa Products SnD Analyst reports directly into the Supply and Demand Research Manager for Cargill"s EMEA Cocoa & Chocolate business and sits in our Schiphol office. The role of Cocoa Products Snd Analyst requires intellectual curiosity and conceptualization, the ability to deal with conflicting information, open-mindedness to challenge face-value statements, and a keen sense of structure to keep in control of data flows and develop demand models.

Major Tasks

Data analysis

Maintain and analyze data related to demand and cocoa products SnD in all the consuming regions in order to form a coherent SnD view in coordination with other SnD team members. This data includes reported grind, trade flows, bean quality, retail sales, internal production & stocks data, estimates of grind & press capacity utilizations, capacity projects tracking, prices and margins, manufacturing data, etc.;

Reporting

Update regular demand reports and presentations on short- and long-term trends. Provide frequent commercial and analytical input to the trading teams, through reports and face-to-face communication. Prepare presentations for key customers, in coordination with other SnD team members;

Digitalization Project Support

Support the SND research team digitalization projects by identifying data gaps, supporting the Data Management Specialist for the creation of ETL processes, and creating insightful visualizations;

Model Development

Develop new models leveraging the available demand data to forecast chocolate and cocoa products demand elasticity to several factors.

Het profiel / Your profile

Kwalificaties


Master degree (Economy, Finance, Statistics or Data Science preferred)

3 years in an analytical role, preferably in fundamental analysis and/or in the cocoa and chocolate industry

Proven experience of modelling using various type of data and models. Understanding of economics theory.

Programming skills in SAS (preferred), Python or R

Excellent analytical and conceptual skills. Ability to understand and deal effectively with complex data inter-relations. Ability to deal with conflicting information. Passion to go beyond the surface and turn data into insight.

Good interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation.

Keen sense of structure to work with large datasets and define data processes

Eager to work in a multi-cultural team and work closely with other analysts in the team

Language proficiency in English (any additional language is useful)
