Develop and ensure the execution of the R&D strategy and objectives for Ingredients Beverages, realize strategic projects and manage a group of highly qualified professionals, in line with the Marketing, Sales and R&D strategy.

Beverages EMEA & China is active in fast moving markets like single serve brewing systems ("Nespresso") and FoodService ("Starbucks"). De functie / The role
In this position, you will be responsible for:
Define and lead Beverages innovation vision, strategy and roadmap
Establish and lead the Development roadmap for Beverages EMEA & China in close collaboration with segment marketing, product group management, technical sales, Supply Chain, Research and Expert teams (Packaging, Sensory, Nutrition and Process Technology).
Secure strong partnerships with Sales, Marketing and Supply Chain to understand the market and align strategies and priorities on regular basis. Act as equal counterpart within these disciplines.
Have a good understanding of business & consumer needs in order to proactively feed the Beverages innovation roadmap with e.g. new product development, new application development and technical enabler projects.
Support plans in order to integrate innovation leads into commercial propositions.
Commercially Obsessed: act as R&D counterpart for (some of) the key customers in the field of Beverages EMEA and China.
Manage R&D portfolio and projects
Responsible for the Beverages innovation pipeline and securing a balanced project portfolio funnel (from ideation to implementation).
Responsible for the delivery of Beverages related projects On Time In Full, involving various production locations. Especially the responsibility for the delivery of Beverages related projects in greater China (incl Taiwan) needs skillful and dedicated attention.
Strong partner/adviser of the Development Director Food & Beverages. Member of Development MT and active part of the decision making regarding strategy & project portfolio.
Connect & align with R&D peers (manager development SEAP, manager development Food Ingredients, manager Technical Sales) on joint initiatives, project prioritization and resource allocation.
Supervise raw material specialist who assist in R&D projects and specification management.
People management and Budget management
Line manager role to manage, allocate and optimize resources of the Development Beverages EMEA & China team (including personnel hiring, coaching, developing and appraising).
Protect and develop the knowledge level of the (core capabilities of the) department and take initiatives for filing patent applications as a result of innovative development work.
Establish & control annual R&D budget related to Beverages EMEA & China.
Het profiel / Your profile
To be a successful in this position, you are/have:
MSc degree, preferably in relevant technical field like e.g. Food Technology;
5 years professional R&D management experience, also in industrial setting.
5 years professional experience in innovation projects, both as part of project teams and in managerial role, preferably in different product categories.
Understanding fundamentals in order to formulate new projects based on business needs and on FrieslandCampina"s technological capabilities.
Has a relevant large internal and external network and knowledge in marketing, sales and supply chain.
Knowledge of sensory in relationship to product and customer research.
Program and project management experience (in cross-organizational context).
Ability to support development and communication of a compelling vision on Beverages based on FrieslandCampina strategy.
Conceptual and analytical thinking: ability to analyse and prioritise needs, ability to frame and align the external network to our innovation strategy; ability to identify external opportunities from unexpected sources contributing to our innovation program; be a sparring partner / counselor for the R&D Directors and senior R&D staff.
Excellent communication and facilitation abilities: can build trust and bring people together, get buy in and support for open innovation vision and program, align disciplines and optimize for the best solution for FrieslandCampina.
